Now that my daughter is a toddler I am still in the habit of going to the organic section of the produce department in our local grocery store. One huge consideration all parents have is their child’s education. We all want the best for our children, but not all children can go to the top schools. That’s a shame really, as it would seem it would be possible for many schools to have this distinction. Instead, there are some really great ones, and there are some that are failing miserably. I often wonder why we are so concerned with butting into business in other countries when we need help right here at home. This lets you see the location of your child, regardless of where he/she is. Obviously this device would be ideal if a child were abducted. Authorities could locate the kid pretty quickly.

An article looking at different baby feeding methods.

I couldn’t breast feed, so my daughter was on formula. My sister choose not to do so, so her baby was also on formula. Our methods of baby feeding were vastly different from each other even though we had the same pediatrician.

I guess I took the pediatrician’s advice about baby feeding much more seriously than my sister did. I was told that bottle should not go in the microwave because they heat unevenly. When that happens, there can be parts of the bottle that can be too hot and the babies mouth might be burned when feeding.

Let me tell you my secret wish list as a mother (and it might give you some ideas for Mother’s Day too):

1. Family unity. The one thing in our world that’s the most important is for our families to get along. No matter what the ages of our children, we want them to be friends. One of the best days of the year is the one-day set aside for family and extended family to get together to celebrate Christmas. For us, it’s the last Saturday before Christmas, unless that falls on Christmas Eve. It’s our attempt to avoid conflict with the other sides of families and children who wish to have their own Christmas with their loved ones at their own home. It’s an attempt to bring siblings, cousins, and in-laws and out-laws together for one happy night of fun.

2. A family portrait. Again, this has special meaning for any Mom who has children and grandchildren scattered around the globe. My secret wish is for all my grandchildren to be photographed together, all thirteen. I know in my heart that isn’t possible as I have grandchildren in Germany, San Diego, and other cities scattered throughout my state…

I’m sure my folks had a few amazing graduation gift ideas. Then finally the day was present. I couldn’t wait to see what kind of rewards I would get. I mean come on; graduation from high school is a big deal. Once I snatched that diploma from some old fart’s hand, I was good to go. Later that evening my mother gave me a plane ticket to a foreign land so that I could spend the summer with my best buddy. She also spotted me a grand for expenses. This was SWEET! My friends were so incredulous when they found out that I was applying to Harvard admissions. To them, it sounded pointless. I have always been someone for impossible missions, and they thought it was just another quixotic venture. You see, although my grades are very good, they are far from perfect. Why would I be accepted to admissions at Harvard when there are plenty of 4.0 grade point average students that they decline? Nonetheless, it has been my dream to go to Harvard for a long time.
