Although, there are a lot of cold remedies out there, but I fear that none of them are made with moms in mind, or at least I should say that are not made with me in mind. Dayquil works wonders, but it also has a bad affect on my head and my mind. It makes me loopy, and I cannot concentrate while I am on it. Nyquil works at night, and so do some other meds. These cold remedies worry me though, because I cannot wake up properly if my daughter needs me. Until someone can help me, I’m afraid I must suffer through.

I was trying to find a mini decorative item for my mother’s small Christmas tree. She has a collection of miniature holiday ornaments but I wanted to give her something extra special to complete the ensemble.

I noticed that most of the mini holiday decorations were made of blown glass. I also took note that most of them were produced in Germany. Colic relief may seem impossible when you don’t know why your baby has been crying for three weeks straight. With every shrill shriek, you fear you’re being an inadequate parent or that something may be seriously wrong. During feeding, many babies accidentally suck in too much air, resulting in “gas pockets” in the stomach and intestines. Also, gas-producing vegetables, like broccoli and cabbage, can pass on their effects through breast milk, causing excess bloating in the baby as well. Toxins like caffeine are easily transmitted this way too, making it difficult for the baby to digest. The more the colicky baby cries, the more the gas builds up and more cramping ensues from tensing the stomach muscles. To ease the baby’s discomfort, many people turn to homeopathic medicines to treat colic.

Newborn babies have a deficiency of the lactase enzyme needed to digest milk sugar (also known as lactose), which means that undigested lactose must be broken down by the intestines and bowels, leading to an overproduction of lactic acid and hydrogen gas. Transient lactase deficiency may be something that causes colic, since this enzyme fully develops around 3-4 months (when most cases of infant colic stop). In fact, once a baby is born, new moms have very little time for themselves. They should priority for their babies. Diaper changes, feedings, playtime, and colic can eat up the majority of a day’s hours. For me, dinnertime became a nightmare. I was reading about Southern Illinois tourism in a magazine and they were using that as a catch to help parents with their kids. I started thinking about it and it made sense. If you are dealing with tourism that basically means you are on vacation and when is a better time to teach your kids than when they lease expect it. You can do the obvious thing and go to historic sights or you can use your imagination. One thing mentioned was to allow your kids to bring their friends and as they get older they can bring their boyfriends or girlfriends. There needs to be some supervision, of course but that is a wonderful way to see how your child treats the opposite sex. No child would ever invite mom or dad on their date, but this works much the same way. After a little observation you can gently instruct your child on the way things ought to work. It sure beats the “Birds and Bees” conservations. Another good teaching tool can be the games you play in the car or at the lodge during the down times. The license plate game can teach a lot about geography, depending on the rule you add on.
