My husband has never liked to dress up for Halloween, but I finally talked him into it this year. He agreed to do it as long as I do not have him dressing up like a punk rocker.

I found a great little shop online that sells Avatar costumes, and I decided that it would be a great look for him.

I was shocked when he told me that he actually liked the costume. I hope that this is going to be something that he agrees to start doing every year, because it would definitely be a blast. The funny thing is, I found a really great avatar costume for me too! (see the one to the left!) Now we’re going to match, and we’re looking forward to our party together.

Of course the kids have no problem picking costumes, and when it comes to Avatar costumes, my son really liked the Jake Sully child costume.

My four year old wants to be a “good fairy princess” for Halloween. I’m glad she is picking up on the idea of being good but I do not like her using the word fairy with her costume. My concern is that when you start thinking about fairies then that can lead to magic, witchcraft, supernatural, and all those types of topics which I’m totally against. I do want my daughter to have a good time on Halloween but want her to have the fun without all of the dark type of ideas that so many people associate with Halloween. Luckily for me she doesn’t want to be a witch as I would have to come up with a clever way to talk her out of that. I have been working with her to eliminate the “fairy” from her costume and just to go as a Good Princess.

For the most part I think that all the books and movies that involve a princess are typically the kind of good over evil that we are trying to instill in our children. I don’t see anything wrong with dressing up in a pretty dress with a pretty crown or tiara and pretending you are a princess. I have found a lot of really pretty princess costumes to choose from. There are lots of them that don’t need a magic wand such as Snow White, Princess Fiona and even Lady Diana. Of course, not too many four year olds know who Lady Di might be. I think I’m careful we can have a fun holiday and still feel like we are in keeping with our Christian Values.

Who would of thought that a whole new industry has emerged from party accessories? Gone are the days if you had a child’s birthday party and send a little handwritten invite out to their friends inviting them over to celebrate your birthday. That seems so old hat now! Its goign to be a long ghostly Halloween this year, especially with all the marketing towards new movies, we have toy story and the famous iron man. iron man is sure to be huge. kids tugging at the shirt tales of us parents begging for the latest costume to hit the market. i have a way to put the brakes on this Halloween.

I refuse to be taken advantage of fiancially. This year I am goign to buy the kids their favorite costume Ahead of time. The Trunki is a children’s suitcase which has been created to make the journey for 3-6 year olds much more enjoyable. A trunki is available in a range of different designs and this particular one is pink and is called Trixie. Of course giving the suitcases a name gives them an identity to a child and is much more fun.

Trixie will double up as a ride-on and has wheels and 2 ‘horns’ on the front which the child can hold on to whilst they ride. Also the trunki has a handle for adults to pick the case up and a thick strap that can be used on an adults shoulder and to pull the case along.

What is it about a Panda Bear Costume that so many people find irresistible on Halloween? I think it’s the unique “cuteness” quality that Giant Pandas have that make them look like real-life stuffed animals.

Of course, it helps that Pandas are not meat eaters. They live in dense forested areas of China and they eat only bamboo.

But in my opinion, there is one overriding unique factor about Pandas – where most bears in real life can be quite dangerous and look NOTHING like stuffed animals or Teddy Bears, Pandas are perhaps the one bear breed that actually look like stuffed animals.

That cute “raccoon” like masking around their eyes is another factor.

In spite of their great size, it just seems impossible to imagine that any Panda could threaten, growl or even make a mess at a campsite. So if you’re looking for a nice family- themed Halloween, why not become a family of Pandas?

Of course, if you prefer to take a walk on the wild side, there are also plenty of plain old bear costumes available too.

There is a new movie coming out September 24, 2010 that is expected to be as adventurous as The Lord of the Rings….Legend of the Guardians. The movie is based on the series of young adult books written by Kathryn Lasky. The film is a completely CGI movie and is directed by Zack Snyder. I am certain that my kids are going to love this adventure/fantasy tale, as I am sure yours will as well.

Winnie the Pooh was originally created by AA Milne in 1926. The stories were based on his son, Christopher Robins, and his son’s stuffed toys.
