I think we have all probably heard at some time or another that effective parenting doesn’t come with an instructional manual. Yes, it’s safe to say that you will surely find all kinds of self-help books on how to care and feed your children, as this pertains to the mechanical aspects of parenting. You will also find books on how to handle diaper rash or how to convince your teen that it’s a great idea to have good dietary habits. You know it can sometimes be very hard when choosing baby boy name. People normally want to be viewed as a unique individual and also they want to be treated the same as everyone else. Most of us want to stand out in the crowd and be able to fit in at the same time. Parents normally try to give their children an unusual name that is quite unique from the rest of the names. Most of the time this can be good because as the child grows up they will feel that they are special because of their own unique name. On the other hand, it can sometimes be difficult because the name can be hard to pronounce and at times the child might get teased at school due to his unusual name. Many times the child ends up getting a nickname just to try and avoid some of the issues with his real name.

My son is going to have a baby boy soon and he is concerned about a very unique name because he remembers teasing kids in school who had quite an unusual name. He worries that if his wife happens to give their son a strange name, that his son will be teased at school and he will end up with a nickname. My daughter-in-law insists that whatever baby boy name they decide on, that this will be exactly what he will be called. she does not want anyone calling him by a nickname. I have informed her that she can’t control what other people will decide to do. As the boy grows older and matures into an adult he will decide for himself what he wants to be called.

I have found how the older I get the more like my mom I will be. My sisters used to tease me about this and it would make me upset. We tried to battle the similarities and observe what I might say and do. One day my husband complained to me that my mother was a generous loving women and that I should be proud that people thought I had been similar to her. I reflected on this and realized that he was right, I should be attempting harder to be more like her instead of discounting the traits we had in accordance.

I had been reminded of my mother yesterday when my son and his wife were over to our house visiting. As I watched my daughter in law through out the day I was noticing signs of being pregnant. My mother had an uncanny capability to notice pregnancy. She knew I was pregnant with my first child before I possibly could announce it to her. With my second pregnancy she knew I had been pregnant before I did. I didn’t wish to spoil my daughter-in-laws announcement so I did not say anything to her during the day. As we were doing dishes and cleaning up the kitchen she mentioned that she could not understand why she was so tired. She said she had been feeling very tired for a few weeks, even though she was getting the same quantity of sleep that she always does.

I casually mentioned this was among the signs of being pregnant. She looked at me very surprised and asked if I thought it could be possible. We both laughed at the question and she became embarrassed. I asked her if she had experienced any of the other signs of pregnancy such as being overly emotional or feeling strange in the morning or around certain smells. She confirmed all of the symptoms plus her last period had been very light and lasted only two days. She said that they had gone off birth control last month because they desired to start a family. She attributed all the symptoms to being off the pill. So many of her friends were having a hard time getting pregnant so she didn’t think it would happen immediately for them.

She went to the living room where her father and husband were playing chess. She told them which I had stated several signs of pregnancy to her and that she thought she might be pregnant. She insisted that we go to the pharmacy around the corner to get a pregnancy test. We bought the test and she went into the bathroom, the next minute she came out laughing and crying at the same time. The test came out positive. It was so fun to watch her and our son dance around the family room in joy.

The topic in this article is about the various parenting styles. I believe that it is safe to say that all parents will never agree with just one type of parenting style. This will primarily depend on each individual person since everyone see’s some parenting styles as appropriate, yet they will disagree with other styles. I think each person’s views on different styles will be mainly influenced by the way they were raised by their parents as a child.

I think parenting your kids is something which you will learn and have to figure out on your own over time. It’s quite normal that you would take from your own experiences as a child when your where growing up and try using them the as an example for raising your own kids. In addition, some parenting styles can be different based on the culture that they live in, and they can also be taken in a different manner depending on the area of the world.

It really is hard to say that there is one correct type of parenting style, since different parenting styles can work for different parents. I think it depends on the parent, the child, and their environment, which are very broad factors that encompass a myriad of traits, actions and experiences. In the end, I think it is more important on how the child ends up and how he or she feels about it because whatever they experience as a child will in all probability influence the next generation of kids to come.

It seems that children grow up fast these days particularly when it comes to learning how to use twenty-first century gadgets. Recently my five year granddaughter has gotten very interested in taking photographs using my digital slr camera. She does a fantastic job and understands many of the functions but I was so concerned about her damaging my pride and joy that I began to research the childrens digital camera market.

Well that opened my eyes!

What I discovered was that these cameras are really only suitable for toddlers. Kids cameras are built to withstand a lot of abuse, they are big and colourful and very appealing to youngsters. What they are not good at is taking really good photographs. Now don’t get me wrong here. I guess I am approaching it from the point of view of what my needs are not the childs. Provided that the camera does a half reasonable job of taking a snap that can look okay when printed or on a computer screen then that’s enough. And many of the kids digital cameras on the market do the job fairly well so long as you manage your own adult expectations.

What I did find however was a big discrepancy in performance from one children’s digital camera maker to another. As always you get what you pay for so don’t expect a lot from a kids camera that cost only $20. Try to aim at the middle to high end, they go as up to $150 or so. Watch out for resolution too, you need to find a digital camera around the two or three mega pixel mark, don’t even bother with anything less.

So what about my five year old granddaughter? Well for me it was a no-brainer. I think that had she been a lot younger I would have taken a punt at a Fisher-Price or Vtech but at five I think that children are already way to savvy. I went for a Canon Powershot 480 which you can find for around $100 or so. The camera produces fantastic quality and my granddaughter took no time at all to become completely familiar with it.

My final advice is this. Buy a toddler one of the many childrens digital cameras on the marketfor sure but give a proper digital camera to a five year old.

Anger management for kids can be tough. Kids are not normally forthcoming in sharing feelings and emotions. A kid may have feelings of anger, pain or guilt but you would never know it from talking with them.

A child’s feelings are usually displayed in their behavior. When a child is sad they may keep to themselves or have little to say. When a child feels guilty they may avoid people and stay in their room. When a child is angry they may break their toys, scream or throw a tantrum. Children don’t always talk about their emotions but their actions should give you some clues.

When kids show signs of anger, bursting into fits or rage and rolling around the floor in tantrums, there’s a problem. This behavior should ell you that this child needs help. Left untreated, this problem could evolve into tons of difficulty in the future. It’s easier to do anger management for kids when they are young instead of waiting until they are older.

Most of us recognize the continuing escalation of violence around us, due to intolerance, and many of us blame it on somebody else. Parents teach their children, all the time, and when one of us displays “road rage,” while our child is in the car, we teach a brand new skill set.

Although, road rage is inappropriate behavior, at any time, and can get you killed, most children who are exposed to it, will duplicate the actions of their parents, when they are old enoughto drive.

So the first step, is to set an example and, possibly, use some of these ideas, for yourself. Studies show that anger causes atherosclerosis, the build-up of plaques in the arteries, that is a major factor in developing high blood pressure, heartdisease, heart attack, and premature death.

Also, during a “temper tantrum,” adrenaline and blood pressure levels rise beyond normal. This behavior is more dangerous to parent’s bodies due to the normal “wear and tear” already existing. You need to learn how managing your childs anger will help both you and your child.
