Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta
This aquarium claims to have the only whale shark display in North America. It is home to world’s largest fish which are a pair of juvenile whale sharks and 5 beluga whales that were rescued from an amusement park in Mexico. This project has done wonders in boosting Atlanta morale. They managed to draw more that 1 million visitors in the first 98 days and are looking forward to 3 million visitors for the year. Commenting on the success was Spurgeon Richardson, President and CEO of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, “The product is unbelievable. It’s drawing many people downtown.” “When those people come downtown, they see the CNN Center and take that tour, they have dinner downtown, they walk around Centennial Olympic Park and see the Children’s Museum. All the numbers are up as it relates to downtown.” (MSNBC)
